I asked Alex and Laurenn, and they said it was cool, so here you go: the official Red State Soundsystem cover of “I’ll Believe In Anything” by Wolf Parade. This doesn’t sound much like my other stuff — I think it sounds like the Polyphonic Spree a bit, crossed with maybe Vespertine-era Bjork, until the last bit, which sounds like MGMT. But what the fuck do I know? It sounds good, I think, and it took an amazing amount of work and the help of awesome people (Thom, Kiva, Rosalie!) doing background vocals. (It probably goes without saying, but I arranged and played everything else, except for the bagpipe-sounding drone guitar, which was Thom being awesome.)

“Red State Soundsystem” has a nice ring to it, but now that Obama has won and Nevada has gone blue, will you change your name to: “Blue State Soundsystem” or “Was Red, Now Blue State Soundsystem?” Forgive me for my silliness. I just couldn’t resist. 🙂
