Hmph. It’s nice that Pullman is rooting for Kidman in TGC, but frankly she hasn’t got the acting chops to pull the role off (or perhaps the director just wasn’t able to pull it out of her on set). She’s creepy when she should be at her most sympathetic, and barely able to summon up enough villainy when called for.
Heck, Gwynneth Paltrow could probably have done it better (though I’m sure she wouldn’t have wanted to play a villain), or Sienna Guillory. A good choice might have been Catherine Zeta-Jones.
